Why Should I Aerate My Lawn?

Although winter is still here, spring will be here before you know it!   Spring brings new life and growth all around and it is a perfect time to give your yard a little TLC.  One thing that is important to do yearly is to aerate your lawn.

Aerating is punching holes in your lawn about 3-4 inches deep.  This allows for fertilizer, water, oxygen, and other nutrients to get down to the roots of your grass, making for a healthier lawn.  The need for aerating comes from compacting that occurs from foot traffic, etc.  The more clay that is in your soil, the more this can occur.  This can cause your lawn to get deprived of what it needs to grow - water, nutrients, and oxygen.

Follow me as I give you the tips and tricks needed to have a healthy, happy, and low maintenance yard as we continue to be Nuts About Gardening.
